- When buying a Coach bag, consider the bag's authenticity, whether or not it was made for a Coach retail or outlet store and whether it's worth the price tag. To find the perfect Coach bag for the right price, you need to have the right information at your fingertips.
This bag is fake because Coach bags only use two sections in their Auth numbers on the Creed Patch or sewn into the lining or an inside pocket on the inside of new bags. Also, Coach will never use two LETTERS back to back or in one section of their Auth code.
Early to Mid 1960s
No Coach® Creed, No serial number.
Thickest leather grain.
Impression of Coach® logo.
Late 1960s to Early 1970s
Coach® creed, printed in all caps, reads:
THIS IS A COACH BAG. IT IS MADE OUT OF A COMPLETELY NATURAL GLOVE TANNED COWHIDE. THE SCARS, SCRATCHES, VEINS AND WRINKLES ARE NATURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF FULL GRAIN LEATHERS.
In the creed, there should be gaps between the words: “scars, scratches, veins and wrinkles.”
Under the creed in all caps is printed: “MADE IN NEW YORK CITY, U.S.A.”
No serial number.
The Coach® logo is stamped above the creed and the word “LEATHERWARE” is printed in all caps under the word “Coach” within the logo.
All bags that feature the creed but no serial number were manufactured in the original Coach® factory in New York City.
Mid to Late 1970s
Under the Coach® Creed is printed: “MADE IN THE UNITED STATES” or “MADE IN U.S.A.” (This change is because Coach® began to manufacture bags in other locations within the United States, besides New York City.)
Serial number contains seven numbers in the format: xxx-xxxx.
The serial number is unique to each bag and does not correspond to the style number.
A few styles feature “MADE IN U.S.A” printed under the creed and have serial numbers that consist of eight numbers without a dash.
1980s
Coach® Creed is the same as in mid to late 1970s.
Serial number contains seven numbers in the format: xxxx-xxx.
Both the first four digits before the dash and the last three digits after the dash are unique to each bag and do not correspond to the style number.
1994
The creed, printed in all caps, reads:
THIS IS A COACH BAG. IT WAS HANDCRAFTED IN [COUNTRY OF ORIGIN] OF
COMPLETELY NATURAL GLOVE-TANNED COWHIDE. THE VARIATIONS IN THE GRAIN
ARE CHARACTERISTIC OF NATURAL FULL GRAIN LEATHER.
There are no gaps between any of the words in the creed.
The serial number has the format: xxx-xxxx.
The first three characters before the dash indicate the month, year, and location in which that particular bag was manufactured. The first and third characters are letters, and the second character is a numeral.
The four numbers after the dash indicate the bag’s style number.
For example, consider the serial number: F5D-9966. “F” is the 6th letter of alphabet, which indicates that the bag was manufactured during the 6th month of the year: June. “5” represents the year during which the bag was manufactured. “D” indicates that the bag was manufactured in the United States. Thus, you can decipher from the first part of the serial number that the bag was manufactured in the United States during June 1995.
The letters used to represent bags’ countries of origin can vary. It is not crucial to consider this factor when determining the authenticity of a bag.
Before 1994, Coach® assigned style numbers to bags but did not include them in bags’ serial numbers. Therefore, you can find two bags that look the same, but one could have a serial number consisting of arbitrary digits (if it was manufactured before 1994) and the other could have a serial number that indicates the style number (if it was manufactured after 1994).
Tips
You can be quite certain that a bag is inauthentic if you examine its creed and find either: 1) at least one misspelling or 2) at least one word or phrase inconsistent with either of the two versions of the creed above.
Both the size and weight of the Coach® creed’s font vary. Depending on a bag’s country of manufacture and age, the particular alignment of the creed can also vary. (The creed may be justified, aligned left, centered, justified with only the last line, or otherwise.) Therefore, these factors are not reliable indicators of authenticity.
Some smaller Coach® items do not have creeds, including wallets, pouches, cosmetic cases & other small accessories.

HOW TO SPOT A FAKE COACH~
THE CREDO PATCH
Most COACH bags have a 'serial number' stamped on the inside on a square patch of leather sewn into the bag's lining. The last 4 to 5 digits indicate the bag's model number and it usually goes like No H1073-16153. The 'o' of the No should be underlined. The lettering are always stamped into the leather patch though some bags might have gold ink lined over it. On top of the serial number, you will find these words stamped into the leather: THIS IS A COACH BAG. IT WAS HANDCRAFTED IN CHINA FROM THE FINEST MATERIALS AND LEATHER. Test computer license florida in creole. ITS SUPERIOR CRAFTSMANSHIP REFLECTS OUR COMMITMENT TO ENDURING QUALITY. These words are perfectly spaced and the word China can sometimes be replaced with other countries as well though most COACH bags are made in China now.
THE ZIPPER
The zipper is either made of leather, a ring or a series of rings and the mechanism which pulls the 2 sides of the zipper together should have the letters YKK / IDEAL although the letters are very small.YKK and IDEAL are both very well known zipper manufacturers.
THE LINING
You will never see the COACH CC pattern on both the inside and the outside of the bag. It is always an either or scenario or a neither nor scenario.
MADE IN CHINA
Most COACH bags are made in China. Some are made in India,Philippines,Turkey,Thailand and Vietnam. Some used to be made in the United States and the Dominican Republic. None ever made in Korea or Taiwan.
THE 'C' DESIGN
The 'C' design should always start from the middle of the front panel of the bag and it should run symmetrically from the left to the right and from the top to bottom. The 'C' design should also mirror that of the opposite side of the bag. If any of the Cs are cutoff from one edge, the Cs at the other edge will also be cutoff at the same point. Also, one of the tips of the horizontal 'C' for all Signature 'C' models must touch the same tip of the facing 'C'. Only 1 tip should touch. The other tip must not. This rule does not apply to the 'C' design of the newer 'optic' models. Also, the C must never look like a G. If it does, it is obviously a fake.
THE STITCHING
All the stitching should be in a straight line, evenly-spaced and neatly done.

DATE CODES
MICHAEL Michael Kors bags have date codes. They are hidden very well inside the bags. Date codes are placed on all of his authentic items. To find them, you will usually have to pull the bag inside out. They are along the lining on the inside. It is a small white/clear plastic tab with the words 'made in China' or 'made in Vietnam' or made in wherever, followed by letters and numbers. There will always be four numbers that represent the month and year that the item was made. The letters represent the style of the bag. For example; Jet Set Totes will have the letter 'B' followed by a '-' and then four numbers. Don’t be afraid if your bag does not have a code but only has a tab that says 'made in blah blah blah'. Many of the older bags do not have the letters and numbers on them but the newer ones are noticed to have them.
THE HANGING LOGO CHARM AND THE MICHAEL KORS EMBLEM
Both the hanging logo charm and the Michael Kors emblem on the bags are intricately crafted with perfect spacing between letters.

All the stitching should be in a straight line, evenly-spaced and neatly done. The stitching will also never be in a contrasting color compared to the bag.
